Guys i bought a new ethernet cable and at present my download speed is slower and my ping is up by 10ms... what'due south the reason of information technology ? also my sometime cable was thicker.... what's more than i use a 10m cable which nigh of its lenght is useless to me... would i see whatever improvement to speeds or even ping if i bought a smaller ane (like v meters) ? as well my concluding cable said something like cat6 but my new ane says cat5..... i googled information technology and it seems like it is different cablevision technologies......

Most probable it is cheaply made defective cablevision.

Ethernet will go for 100 meters in altitude before it has an issue and so 10m vs 5m is not an issue if the cablevision is of decent quality.
Cat6 is a meliorate cablevision so cat5e, but because hardware manufactures chose to skip straight from 1gbps to 10gbps there is minimal gain in getting cat6 over 5e. Many offices choose to still use cat5e network drops becasue cat6 gives them no gain for the coin.

Only become a cable from a reputable make. For going from router to PC y'all desire to go one that is stranded (may exist labeled as a patch console cable). Cablevision made for server room/in-wall drops are solid wire, while ones going to devices are stranded because stranded holds upwards meliorate to the corruption.

It really shouldn't matter since I would bet your internet is non even 100m. Cat5e and cat6 are rated to 1g. cat5 will do merely 100m but I take not seen those cables for sale for quite some fourth dimension. If you lot new cable only has 4 wires rather than 8 information technology might be thinner and this will only do 100m
Cable length makes about no divergence. The signals travel 200,000,000 meters/ second. And so you could have a 200,000 meter cable and it would only delay you lot 1ms. So a actress 5 meters is almost a impossibly small-scale amount of filibuster to even calculate.

You most likely have a defective cable. The most common affair would be the ends are non properly crimped on. Information technology is rare in commercial cable. I would just buy another one from a different manufacture, information technology should be less than $5.

Almost likely it is cheaply made lacking cable.

Ethernet will go for 100 meters in distance before it has an result so 10m vs 5m is non an consequence if the cable is of decent quality.
Cat6 is a better cable then cat5e, merely considering hardware manufactures chose to skip straight from 1gbps to 10gbps at that place is minimal gain in getting cat6 over 5e. Many offices choose to still use cat5e network drops becasue cat6 gives them no gain for the coin.

Simply go a cable from a reputable make. For going from router to PC you want to go one that is stranded (may be labeled equally a patch panel cable). Cable made for server room/in-wall drops are solid wire, while ones going to devices are stranded because stranded holds upwardly better to the abuse.

Most likely it is cheaply fabricated defective cable.

Ethernet volition go for 100 meters in distance before it has an effect so 10m vs 5m is non an issue if the cable is of decent quality.
Cat6 is a better cable so cat5e, merely because hardware manufactures chose to skip straight from 1gbps to 10gbps there is minimal gain in getting cat6 over 5e. Many offices choose to even so utilize cat5e network drops becasue cat6 gives them no gain for the coin.

But get a cablevision from a reputable brand. For going from router to PC you want to get i that is stranded (may be labeled equally a patch panel cablevision). Cablevision made for server room/in-wall drops are solid wire, while ones going to devices are stranded considering stranded holds up improve to the corruption.

Thank you for the answer.... the problem seems to be my modem, i used another moden that i had and my ping is back to normal, although my download and upload speed is not. i volition attempt and ask my internet provider a new modem which hopefully i will be able to mod and get better cooling. I tested the speed between my old and my new cablevision and it is pretty much the same.

Update: I did some experiments with my modem and every bit i run into ping is all about heat.... I shut the modem down and i waited to cool downwardly completely... I run a speed test after (information technology was cool and then) and my ping was 7ms downwardly.
